How is the embossing done and will it
flatten with time?
The embossing is a technique Leslie developed herself many years ago
through experimentation. The embossing is solid and will not
flatten, it is completely done by hand no type of machinery is used.
Between the outer leather cover and felt interior lining is binders
board. On this board Leslie builds the design with pieces of leather.
She then hand molds the outer leather cover over the design creating a
raised effect.
-
Should I remove the
dust jacket before putting on the leather cover?
Yes! In the world of book collecting dust jackets in pristine
condition retain far more value. The custom leather covers serve
two distinct purposes of many, to protect your book and allow you to
keep you dust jackets in the best possible condition. Put the dust
jackets safely away or even frame to show off the beautiful artwork.
-
How do I care for or clean my custom cover?
Keep out of direct sunlight. Genuine leather does require
conditioning to keep from drying out. Oils from your hands should
be sufficient and also will give the cover a nice antique effect.
If you desire, a light leather conditioner or oil may be used sparingly.
Leslie personally uses "Fiebings Distressed Leather Conditioner".
A soft shoe brush can be used to dust the leather.
-
What
color/shade is the brown leather?
The brown leather will differ from what is shown in the pictures. It
normally ranges from a medium to dark brown shade. Leslie cannot
guarantee the exact color of the brown leather. She purchases her
leather on a need to have basis. She is limited to what is in stock at
her suppliers.

Why are letters and numbers not allowed
on the personally designed custom leather covers?
The spine width has to be a certain size in order for me to have
room for letters and numbers. After debating the issue I decided for
simplicity sake not to allow that option.
