2006 Holiday Craft Show

Leslie is a self-taught bookbinder. In 1991, Leslie began searching for a blank leather book to use as a journal/sketchbook. Unable to find anything remotely resembling a fine leather bound blank book she decided to bind her own. Her journey began at the Denver Public Library.  She borrowed and studied every book on the topic of bookbinding, all types and styles.  Several months later, with a clear vision of what her special blank book was to look like she started bookbinding.  Bookbinding soon became a passion. Along the way she began selling her creations at Renaissance Festivals and went online in 1998. Her blank leather books can be seen at http://www.dvynewrytes.com. 
Leslie has sold her custom books and covers worldwide gathering a loyal customer base not only locally in Colorado but throughout the United States and other countries.

Over the years, Leslie has experimented with many types of bindings, cover styles and also the rebinding of books. What she discovered is that her customer base desired and had been asking for fine leather protective book covers specially made to fit their most loved and valued books. Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and the Da Vinci code were the most popular asked for Book Covers (along with the Bible, see FAQ).
Out of that need, these handcrafted custom leather book covers, and this site, was born.
